Join the Our Climate Team

Our Climate’s Fellowship is a structured program in which participants organize their peers, engage the media, collaborate with partner organizations and coalition members, and meet with elected officials to advance science-based and equitable climate policies in key states around the country. Fellows commit 7 hours per week and will coordinate with a cohort of Fellows to achieve campaign goals. Fellows receive one-on-one support from Our Climate staff.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Organizing and hosting events, such as lobby days, workshops, and trainings;

  • Writing blog pieces, letters to the editor, and gaining media attention to build public support for climate justice;

  • Planning and facilitating meetings with elected officials;

  • Engaging in policy analysis and power mapping to identify target legislators and build strategy to pass climate policy;

  • Creating social media content for state and national platforms

  • Our Fellowship application is currently open for the 2024 – 2025 cohort. Thank you for your interest!

  • Location: Most of the Fellowship is run remotely online, with a few opportunities per year for in-person actions, trainings, and gatherings.

  • Positions available: 3 per state program

  • Time commitment: 7 hours per week

  • Suggested age range: 16-24

  • Wage: $16/hour

All Fellows Will:

  • Participate in the national curriculum calls and complete weekly assignments;

  • Participate in weekly video calls with the state or federal field teams;

  • Participate in weekly one-on-one calls with state or federal program manager;
  • Attend co-working + office hour time as needed with state or federal field team.

Legislative sessions and priorities will vary by state.

Minimum Qualifications:

We’re seeking candidates who are team players, results-oriented, and dedicated to our mission. Candidates should demonstrate the following:

  • Belief in the power of grassroots organizing and empowering young people to become compelling advocates;

  • An organized, collaborative, and proactive work style;

  • Commitment to meeting a high bar and a history of getting things done, even in the face of obstacles;

  • Ability to work in remote, fast-paced, and flexible working environment;

  • Commitment to climate, environmental, and social justice.
